Higher thinking skills through IT-based projects

I.Resource-based project
pabiachristian@yahoo.com
The teacher steps out of the traditional role of being a content experts & information providers & instead let the students find their own facts & information. Only when necessary for the active learning process does the teacher steps in to supply in to data/information.

General flow of events of in resource-based project:
v The teacher determines the topic for the examination of the class (e.g the definition of man)
v The teacher presents the problem to the class.
The students find information on the problem/questions.
Students organize their information in response to the problem/questions.
Inquiry-based and discovery approach is given importance. This requires that the students, individually or cooperatively with members of his group, relate gather information to the ‘real world’.
II. Simple Creation
-Students create  their software materials to supplement the need for relevant and effective materials.
-Creating is more constant with planning, making, assembling, designing, or building.
  •  Creativity  is said to combine of 3 kind of skills/abilities.
  1. Analyzing
   2. Synthesizing
  3. Promoting
v5 key task can may be recommended.
1Define task.
2Brainstorm
3Judge the ideas
4Act
5Adopt flexibility
III.Guided Hyper-media project
The production of self-made multimedia project can be approach in two different ways.
.As an instructive tool, such, as in the production by students of a power-point presentation of a selected topic.
.As a communication tool, such as when students do a multimedia presentation ( with text, graphs, photos, audio narration, interview, video clips, etc., to simulate a television news show.
IV.web-based project

Students can be made to create & post web pages on a given topic. But creating web pages, even single page webpage, may be too sophisticated & time consuming for the average students.

vIt should be said, however, that posting of webpages in the internet allows the students ( now the webpages creator) a wider audience. They can also be linked with other related sites in the internet. But as of now, this creativity project may be to ambitious as a tool in the teaching-learning process.
